Does noone get in Power, except who God "puts" in Power?

This idea is based on the story of Nebucadnezzer in the Bible. Who God caused to lose his sanity for a time to prove God rules over All. But I think we have misinterpreted it’s true meaning. What it means is that noone is in Power except who God "lets" be in Power.
If a people are good, God might let them have the Power. But power corrupts in our World. So if those people abuse thier Power. God might let a warlike people have the Power, to put an end to the abuse of the ones who corrupted what God gave them.
Such is the Nature of Our World, not God. And God might allow Power to go to an abusive people to bring another people closer, to fight the enemy. But if they fail to do that, that is thier failure, not Gods.
When will we lose our self-righteous blinders and use clear-thinking and wisdom?

When we stop refferencing an obsolite religious text for moral and social guidence.

Aside from territorial and political disputes, the biggest cause of armed conflict in the world is religious.

God doesn’t ‘put people in power’. It’s dangerous to belive that (look what happened to Charles I). If you must belive in a deity at least look into other sources for your information. Posting these kind of quesions in the religion and spirituality section would be a good idea too.

Jeremy D – If you’re a christian, don’t you belive in free will? Surely if god determines the flow of fate/destiny it’s impossible? You can’t just pick and chose when you follow a line of logic, you have to stick to it.

I was reminded of the Chinese concept of the "mandate of heaven" -

I think I get what you mean…? God does not rule the earth at this moment (can’t remember the scripture, but it explains in the bible that Satan and his followers (other bad angels – or demons) control the earth now), but until Armageddon comes and everything gets fixed to how it should be, he had allowed earthly governments (they are not ‘his’ people, just people) to rule so that although things aren’t brilliant there is at least SOME structure to humanity, rather than everyone running around with their own rules. (Romans 13vs1,2: Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God. The existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God.) Hope that helps!

First of all I would like to praise you for sticking up for what you believe in. Most Christians today can’t even do that, even if it’s only on yahoo answers. I sometimes find it hard to express everything I believe in with confidence and sincerity. Anyways God appoints those in authority already knowing how they’re going to use their power for. Everything is predetermined in Gods mind, even when we think he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Many people who know the truth don’t even share God’s word, so why show their faith in their own opinions. The only thing I don’t believe in is predestined salvation, everyone has the chance to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. He died on the cross for our sins, and that covers the past, present, and future. Anyway, kind of mumbling there for a moment. Things happen for a reason and it’s all in God’s hand, it’s not his failure, it’s our own free will.

absolutly not. We are given free will, and with free will comes responsibility and consequences of our actions.

God created us to create. People forget the along with the rights of democracy, comes the awesome responsibility for selecting the best leaders and self dicipline.
