I’m not sure if I’m supposed to tell them how many times I pray/do devotions each day, or how much I believe in him…. or both?
Please and thanks for the help!
I tell them that not that long ago my life was a miserable mess. I was unsatisfied, self-centered, angry, had no peace, and made my loved ones around me miserable also. Plus had some very bad things as a lifestyle.
I knew that what I was do was wrong, but I loved my sin and the addiction that came with it….but down deep I hated it because I knew that it was wrong and was really making be unhappy……I was very much like the prodigal son in the bible.
After many years of this I finally returned back to God. I repented and ask Jesus to forgive me for all the things I had done. Jesus changed me. Today I am a new person. I now have the peace, love, joy and hope that had been absent in my life for a long time.
Jesus forgave me and made me a new person. Now I see the world in a totally different way. I try and read my bible and study the word every day. I have been set free from my past and now have a future with inter-peace. I had to deal with the pain of being transformed. It’s not easy giving up a sin that you love but you know that it is destroying your life. God gave me that strength.
That is just my experience. Jesus offers all of us the same kind of freedom and peace if we just ask him. That we ask him to be our Lord and Savior and repent of our sins he will forgive us of our sins and set us free.
You should tailor your testimony to the person you’re speaking to so that they can best benefit from it.

The best response is, "I don’t know how to describe it. How do you describe yours?" Then listen. (Don’t interrupt.) Only if prompted say, I’m like that or I’m not like that or I’ve never thought of that or that doesn’t make sense, what do you mean?
If you are talking with a person with whom you have a common religious background, use the words that you both understand because of the commonality. That doesn’t work if your are of two different faith traditions that use different words for the same thing or, worse, the same word for two different things.
Communication requires a context. By dialog establish what that context is.
@Spindriff and Ella. I agree wholeheartedly with you. I have incorrectly presumed that there was a desire to respond coherently. No question is due an answer. "I won’t talk about than" or silence or changing the subject are perfectly appropriate

Unless a priest asks you this, you do not have to respond at all, that is a very personal question so you need to tell them that is between you and God.

I think it’s absolutely private and personal thing between you and God.
But if you choose somebody to guide you on your spiritual path, then it’s better to say about each step.

Just tell them Jesus changed your life and now leads you. And yes, tell them how much you believe in Him and why. God bless you in your witnessing for Christ.
