If Christianity is about a personal relationship with Christ, why try to dictate doctrine and law.?

If others have different ideals such as gay marriage or abortion rights…how would that erode your faith…it should be personal, and not just because you live in an area where the law of the land goes along with what you believe.

A personal relationship governed by Gods Word, the Bible.

Interesting point! Yet can we just do what ever we want and do what ever sin we want?

    No.

Because people think that to believe in something you have to have rules that prove to them that you believe. Also because there are people who like to feel in charge and so want to tell you what you can and cannot do.

It doesn’t erode your faith. Sin is what separates us from God in the first place. We cannot be good enough to get to heaven, so Jesus died for us. But that doesn’t mean we can go on sinning against Him and still expect to go to heaven. If you try to kill a certain person every time you see him, do you expect to become his friend?

Part of the personal relationship with Jesus is obeying His commands

Because the real Christianity was simply to follow the law of Moses, which naturally had a doctrine and law for the people to obey. This whole "Christ died for our sins" thing and "All you need for salvation is the belief in this statement" originated later and is mentioned no where in the Bible. Thus giving birth to this confusion people have simply because the scripture (Bible) does not agree with the belief and practices (of Church).

paul wrote ‘go on carrying the burdens of one another, and thus fulfill the law of the Christ’ (galatians 6:2) while the law covenant was terminated, at pentecost 33 ce (hebrews 7:12) Christians come ‘under the law of the Christ’ (1 corinthians 9:21) this law is called the ‘perfect law that belongs to freedom’, ‘the law of a free people’, ‘the law of faith’. (james 1:25, 2:12, Romans 3:27)such new law had been foretold by God through the prophet Jeremiah when he spoke of a new covenant and a writing of his law on the hearts of his people. (jeremiah 31:31-34, hebrews 8:6-13) like moses, the mediator of the law covenant, Jesus Christ is Mediator of the new covenant. moses wrote the law in code form, but Jesus did not personally put a law down in writing. He talked and put His law into the minds and hearts of his disciples.neither did his disciples set down laws in the form of a code for Christians, classifying the laws into categories and subheadings. nonetheless, the Christian Greek Scriptures are full of laws, commands and decrees the the Christian is bound to observe. (revelation 14:12, 1 john 5:2-3, 4:21, 3:22-24, 2 john 4-6, john 13:34-35, 14:15, 15:14)
the ‘law of the Christ’ covers the whole course and scope of the Christian’s lifeand work. by the help of God’s spirit the Christian can follow the commands so as to be judged favorably by that law, for it is ‘the law of that spirit which gives life in union with Christ Jesus’ romans 8:2-4

    It’s Law AND Gospel.
The law tells us how we should live our lives in way that is pleasing to God.
The gospel tells us of the good news that is Jesus Christ & the gift we are given of eternal life.
We are imperfect people – but like the Bible says "should we go on sinning so that grace may abound…God forbid!" We must try to live as God wants us to. If someone loves you & created you & gave you the ultimate gift & DIED for you to give you eternal life…wouldn’t you want to do what He wants you to do?? The Bible is our guideline. We will never be perfect & on our own we are totally sinful, but by grace through faith we are able to do good works & should WANT to do good works.
