hello daughter of the risen King. firstly, as His daughter, He is not going to desert you. He wants a good relationship with you, that means spending time with Him, talking with Him, sitting quietly with Him (snuggled on a chair, asleep in His arms even). do you love Jesus? then tell Him you love Him, do you enjoy singing to Him? then do so, He loves your voice. do you look in wonder at all His creation around you? tell Him how much you enjoy all He has made. thank Him when the sun comes up and the birds start to sing. when the snowflakes start to fall, be amazed at the sight. when something makes you laugh, thank Him for the thing that made you laugh, and thank Him for the gift of laughter. did you enjoy your meals today? well…………you’re already IN a relationship with Jesus, if you love Him, keep the love alive by loving him. always, wherever you are, whoever you are with. He loves you to bits. He is not a dried up religion, He is a fantastic, wonderful, powerful Person. tell Him how you feel. if you are worried, tell Him… He knows already, but telling Him, talking to Him, is all part of your relationship with Him. lol x

How do you maintain it? Have you never had a relationship before? Having a relationship is not some huge mystical secret, its not some epic heartfelt journey, its just the simple things. Prayer, talk with him, do what you think he would want you to do.
It really is that simple.

Never stop praying! The Holy Spirit, who is an intercessor who cannot fail, comes alongside and helps you when you don’t know how to pray. Prayer opens the door to a more intimate relationship with God, which places you in a position to pray in agreement with His will.

In order to keep a relationship with Him you have to spend quality time with Him. This applies to anybody, if you want to keep a relationship with your friends or family, you have to spend time with them. It’s the same exact thing with God. You can do this by praying to Him and reading the Bible (it’s His way of talking to you).

Your personal relationship with God is generally something that you keep in private, away from other people. Whenever you pray or want to spend time in His presence it is done in a quiet room where no one can disturb you. There you can be yourself away from the prying eyes of others, and you don’t have to worry about anyone else being nosey.
You can wear what you want to feel comfortable & you can say what you want. You are also more comfortable that way, and you will find that it is easier to build your relationship like that. The main thing is to spend time in His presence. Take care

The Calvinistic view is "once saved, always saved." It is possible to walk away from God. As with any relationship, as others said, you have to cultivate it. Spend time with God in prayer and reading the Bible. Find other Christians who are willing to pray for you. Find a prayer partner you can go to with your struggles. Why not fast and pray? Keep seeking the Lord. Life really is better with Him than without Him, especially when you know that whatever you go through He is there with you and will never leave you nor forsake you. Also, while you are protected by the blood of Christ and love Jesus you do not have to fear death or eternity. Do not let the Devil deceive you. Get alone somewhere quiet, repent, pour out your heart to God, and listen for His still small voice. Allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. Choose whom you will serve. Take time to choose wisely because God doesn’t want to lose you, but He will let you go if that is what you want. The alternative isn’t a party, no matter how good it might look in the short term. As you draw near to God He will draw near to you. May the dear Lord bless you.

Stay in The Word, for that is how you know His will, talk constantly with Him, even though He knows everything, He still wants you to talk, discuss, and ask Him what to do, no matter how small it might seem. God is not in a box, so don’t put Him there. continuously "expand", and that is done by seeking Him out in The Word.
